Setup
System Requirements
MATRIX ships as a Universal binary targeting macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later. It uses user-space Core Audio AudioServerPlugIn HAL drivers — no kernel extensions, SIP stays enabled.
Operating system
macOS 26 or later is required. Older macOS releases are not supported by the current build.
Hardware
Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and Intel Macs that can run macOS 26 are supported via a Universal binary.
What gets installed
MATRIX.app embeds the audio engine and an optional out-of-process plugin worker (MATRIX Plugin Host). Packaging also installs:
- MATRIX hub driver (HAL) — hidden 256-channel hub (“MATRIX Engine”).
- Eight MatrixBridge*.driver bundles matching the bridge catalog (2A–128).
- Drivers live in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL.
Optional runtimes
NDI audio requires the NDI Apple redistributable at runtime (loaded dynamically; not linked into MATRIX). AES67 uses built-in SAP/SDP and PTPv2 helpers on your LAN.
